Water fire extinguisher are suitable for Class A fires, involving solid materials such as wood, paper, straw, textiles, coal etc. The water extinguishing agent works by cooling the flames of the fire and saturating the fuel to help stop it from re-ignition. Water extinguishers may show an electrical symbol if they have passed testing; if it does not, water extinguishers should be paired with a CO2 extinguisher if there is a risk of electrical fires where they are installed.
