Dorgard Fire Door Retainers

Dorgard Fire Door Retainers provide a safe and legal solution to holding fire doors open during normal working hours. The Dorgard provides convenience for high traffic areas, and improves ventilation and wheelchair access. In the event of a fire, this retainer will respond to the sound of the fire alarm, causing the plunger to release, so the door can close. Battery operated, and completely wireless, installation is made easy - Dorgard is also provided with a 5 year warranty for piece of mind.

The Dorgard Fire Door Retainer uses a foot operated rubber plunger / stopper to hold and release the door. When the plunger is depressed, it remains in contact with the floor to hold the door open. Unlike magnetic fire door retainers, the Dorgard can hold the door open at any angle. The device is always listening, so when a fire alarm sounds (for 14 continuous seconds), Dorgard will automatically release the plunger, allowing the fire door to close normally so proper fire compartmentation can be achieved. These retainers can be installed and operated alongside any new and existing fire alarm system.

Please Note: Alarm sound level at the door's location must be higher than 65 dB to ensure that the Dorgard will detect and respond. This is also the required alarm sound level for populated areas according to BS 5839-1.
